On invited lecture I have presented the work done in our department, preliminary results of gene expression analysis in lung tumours on DNA microarrays and possible causes for detected differences in expression. We also presented differences in expression profiles between KRAS mutated and KRAS non-mutated tumours, correlations between expression of COX-2 and hTERT and gender of the patients and different molecular changes in tumours associated with histological differences.

COBISS.SI-ID: 26661337In an attempt to find novel molecular differences between different types of tumours, we created a DNA microarray platform (MA) by which expression levels of 3060 genes involved in carcinogenesis and apoptosis are monitored. By means of MA, more than 40 genes, most of them involved in transcription or transcription regulation, were detected as having differential expression in comparison to adjacent healthy tissue. Our findings confirmed LATS2, STK11 and VIPR1 as tumour suppressors and identify novel changes and genes that clearly show differences between histotypes on a molecular level.
