The purpose of the article is to discuss the permanent significance of the Slovenian-American writer Louis Adamic (1889–1951) and to define his place in the international cultural consciousness in the early 21st century. The author first outlines the extent of scholarly and other literature on Adamic and describes his place in Slovenian literary history. She then points out the clear-sightedness of Adamic's predictions in his works dedicated to his native land and his new homeland. The most interesting though in the 21st century are Adamic's views on some of the world issues in the middle of the 20th century and on the most probable prospects of their future development, especially because the questions he chose to discuss are still among the most topical and acute issues concerning the global society.
