The paper presents the major findings of the research entitled 'Measures for the realisation of the rights of the disabled to barrier-free access'. The research has two major findings. First, the laws and regulations concerning the removal of existing barriers or prevention of the occurrence of new barriers are poorly or inadequately implemented in practice. Second, most of the measures listed in various national policy documents for the removal of barriers and facilitation of barrier-free movement have not yet been implemented

On the basis of the research entitled ‘Measures for the realisation of the rights of the disabled to barrier-free access’, the chapter focuses on the barriers encountered in the area of education and training. The author stresses the urgency for the implementation of the so-called 'inclusive spatial design' principle, which takes into account the needs of all people. The most frequent barriers in the area of education and training are identified and measures for the reduction of the identified barriers are also proposed.
