Balance is crucial ability, especially in elderly population, as it is important for falls prevention. A portable measuring device for dynamic balance was developed. In the present study we tested its repeatability when performing one leg stance (Sharpened- Romberg test). Results showed that measurements are reliable and therefore applicable in practice.
F.04 Increase of the technological level
COBISS.SI-ID: 1719763The aim of the study was to establish functional differences between older persons using walking aids and those don't. By this we would gain a reference for further searching of exercise modes to maintain functional mobility. Balance (Borg balance scale) discriminated both groups the most, while other motor abilities were not involved. Since Berg balance scale is highly related to strength and static balance as well, we concluded, that its complexity supress other variables. For practical reasons, we gained a rather simple test to predict a need for using a walking aid.
