Sewage sludge represents large share of wastes. Anaerobic stabilization (digestion) of the raw gravity thickened sludge, followed by mechanical and thermal dehydration transform the fresh sludge into stable dry granules. In this form it is suitable for marketing and utilization in thermal processes. The main problems may be low calorific value and relative high metals content (especially mercury) and sulphur. Sulphur and cadmium are not among the limiting parameters of the noted technical specification for alternative fuels, so the new regulation in Slovenia will be appealed.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4256282Integrated treatment of waste sludges and biodegradable wastes in selected slovene region, is studied to provide legislation conformity and economic feasiblity. Alternative contemporary approaches to waste sludges and biodegradable wastes treatment were checked and compared by SWOT analysis. Three different options of contemporary biodegradable wastes and waste sludges treatment were experimentally checked. Findings were corroborated with physical – chemical – biological analyses of entry materials and final products and also with characteristics and products applicability of single option.
