The patent application introduces a new method of isolation driver realization which comprises of isolation feature and provides controlling signals for driving high voltage semiconductor power devices (e.g. IGBT transistor). Besides the high voltage galvanic isolation the proposed solution also proposes a method of providing adequate electrical energy for supplying the isolation driver which is realized with coupled resonance circuit. The introduced solution of the isolation driver with coupled resonance circuit provides several advantages to the prior-art solutions.

COBISS.SI-ID: 9698644The critical part of the electrical propulsion systems, beside battery pack and electrical motor, represents the power module, which is used for driving the electrical motor. The thesis focuses on the power module design and also to the power module electrical, thermal and mechanical properties. The thesis also introduces an algorithm for intelligent power device driving together with presented simulation results. The algorithm simulation results indicate better electrical and thermal performance of the power module.

COBISS.SI-ID: 8234580A method for driving a solenoid device using PWM-coil-current is proposed in patent. The method tracks the position of the solenoid’s armature by sampling voltage drops along the channel of coil driving transistors in real time. Pulse width modulation enables current supply adjustment. Error detection is included to detect possible misbehavior. The content is connected to research project in the part of output power stage and its current measurement.

COBISS.SI-ID: 8929620The shape of the solenoid current, during the PWM driving, provides information about both the coil resistance and inductance properties. The coil current values and its curve shape is also used in the algorithm which adopts the target driving current for optimal operation with minimal thermal losses. In the paper a method for solenoid current measurement is proposed, without expensive shunt resistor, but using just a voltage drop on the driving transistor channel instead. A special technique for compensation of the current to voltage conversion non-idealities as driver transistor “ON” resistance is also discussed in paper. The content is connected to research project in the part of output power stage and its current measurement.
