The objective is to combine the simulation of Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) process models with the simulation models of inverter based power machines. The GMAW process is considered as an electrical circuit and the mathematical model is based on physical descriptions of several parts of GMAW process, as are the electric circuit of power supply, the arc dynamics, and the electrode melting process. Next, the dynamic behavior of full-bridge DC-DC converter is described and suitable discrete PI controller for welding current feedback control is proposed.

The capturing and evaluating of acoustic emission (AE) signals reveals a great potential for the laser cut quality estimation. This paper presents the results of the AE bursts measurement after the laser cutting of steel sheets of various thicknesses using oxygen or nitrogen as cutting gas. The presented method of the laser cut quality estimation was applied to the austenitic stainless steel, mild steel, and structural steel. The laser cut quality, which is related to the size of the dross and the waviness of the cut surface, can be successfully predicted based on the captured AE signals.
