The paper presents results of an analysis of acoustic-emission (AE) signals obtained during laser cutting of steel plates, which are frequently used in the production of automotive body components. Correlation between laser cut quality and AE signals is revealed. The results confirm usefulness of the proposed method for evaluation of laser cut quality at different steel sheets. The method was used also in a manufacturing process involving laser cutting mud-guard out of the big deep-drawn part.

The properties of NiCrBSi coatings, produced by two-step proces of flame deposition and furnace post- treatment are analysed. The confirmation experiment showed that the Taguchi optimization method is suitable for optimization of flame-spraying parameters to improve adhesion strength. The microchemical analyses show the variations of chemical composition of matrix and eutectic phase and also in cromium and boron rich precipitates. The optimal temperature-time conditions that result in homogenous distribution of precipitates and low porosity, was determined.
