The paper presents the material analysis after laser cladding on samples from 12 % Ni maraging steel with laser beam guidance optimisation. Laser beam guidance influences the heat input, solidification conditions and consequently the microstructural properties, microhardness and magnitude of residual stresses. The compressive nature of laser cladded layers is generated during austenite-martensite phase transformation due to the specific volume change of the crystal lattices. The precipitation aging curves were determined for laser cladded samples for different temperature-time conditions.

COBISS.SI-ID: 11258139The paper represents fatigue crack propagation test of nodular cast iron 500, supported by microstructural analyses and micro-hardness profile after laser surface remelting. The standard mini CT specimens were used on resonant fatigue testing machine to determine the fatigue crack propagation rate. Laser remelted surface with refined microstructural features and higher hardness also exhibited higher resistance to fatigue-crack growth in the low stress intensity factor range DKth. The measurements show the fracture toughness KIC is higher in the case of the laser remelted surface.
