A new method for geometrical calibration of hyperspectral imaging systems based on acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) was developed. The method enables rigid, affine and nonrigid registration of twodimensional images from tridimensional hyperspectal cube. The method is based on B-splines. The evaluation was carried out on hyperspectral images acquired by the AOTF. The results indicated the feasibility of geometrical calibration of hyperspectral imaging systems as the proposed calibration was found reliable and enable geometrical calibration with the sub-pixel accuracy.

A new method for spectral characterization of near-infrared acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) hyperspectral imaging systems using standard calibration materials was developed. The method is based on trans-illumination of standard material with broadband light source and automatic registration of the acquired and the reference spectra. The results indicated the accuracy in the order of 0.5 nm as well as high robustness and speed, which make the method suitable for routine characterization and validation of different hyperspectral imaging systems.
