Microtremors horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratio method was used as a geophysical prospecting method for mapping the thickness of soft sediments. First, microtremor measurements were performed at locations of 53 boreholes and the inverse power relationship between the resonance frequency and the thickness of sediments was determined. Secondly, a 16 km-long seismic refraction profile was measured across the basin and microtremor measurements along the same profile. We confirmed that microtremor method can be used as an effective prospecting method to interpolate the thickness of sediments.

In each point of geodetic network (a body represented by discrete points of geodetic network) kinematic quantities are considered. Empirical results show that statistical properties are strongly related to the orientation in single point and local geometry of the geodetic network. Based on the known probability distribution of kinematic quantities the confidence areas in certain point can be defined. By statistical testing we can decide whether the deformation of network in each point is statistically significant. Quality of the geometry of the geodetic network can also be assessed.
