CIM monoliths have been for the first time used sucessfully for purification of a filamentous virus (PVY) from a compless matrix such as plant tissue, resulting in faster purification proccess in contrast to classic purification methods. Purified particles are needed for anitsera production among other appliccations. This will contribute to increase the already broad range of biotechnological appliccations of the chromatographic supports manufactured by BIAseparations d.o.o. In addition the SPR technque has also been succesfully applied for the first time to a filamentous virus (PVY) to study the antibody-virus interaction. This technology will serve for producing better antibody cocktails for diagnostic purposes.
F.09 Development of a new technological process or technology
COBISS.SI-ID: 29024473During this project we are studying the ability of certain plant viruses to survive in water environment and therefore be transmitted through aqueous media such as irrigation water or hydroponic systems. In this article, intended for agriculture related population, we made an overview of this problem, including potential solutions.
F.01 Acquisition of new practical knowledge, information and skills
COBISS.SI-ID: 28101081Plant Protection Society, Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana and National Institute of Biology (Prof.Dr. Maja Ravnikar as president of the organising committe)have successfully organised the 10th Slovenian Conference on Plant Protection with International Participation, which was held on 1st and 2nd of March in Podčetrtek, Slovenia. There were more than 300 participants present from 8 countries (Slovenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, Netherlands, France, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia). An important part of the conference was the round table with title: »Occurrence of new diseases and pests: causes and consequences"(moderator of round table: prof. dr. Maja Ravnikar)
