Based on published national monographs in the field of mineralogy and preservation of natural heritage in Slovenia we were invited to present a special exhibition of Slovenian minerals on 50 square meters of luxury exhibition place at 47. international fair with more than 40.000 visitors from all around the world. Our exhibition was presented in both press and broadcasted interviews, while an extended summary of Slovenian mineralogy was presented in the exhibition's catalogue. This exhibition was most eminent world-wide promotion of Slovenian mineralogy.

COBISS.SI-ID: 23835943Min Dat is today the world's leading database of minerals and their localities. In 2011 Min Dat organized the first international conference on mineral localities. Based on our work acomplished on the world's largest wulfenite locality with a recent monograph »Minerals of the lead-zinc ore deposit Mežica« we were invited to present this famous locality to broad mineralogical community. It was a great promotion of Slovenian natural treasures and one of the milestones of the project. After the conference I was assigned as database manager for Slovenia and western Balkans.
D.03 Membership in foreign/international boards/committees
COBISS.SI-ID: 24909095Within the international project for promotion of science: Up for Science? our research project on mineralogy of Slovenia was openly presented on Prešern square in Ljubljana. Multimedia presentation involved animated presentation of the formation of minerals and where they can be found, this was followed by a short documentary film on the discovery of crystal lined pockets in Mežica mine, and concluded in an open workshop where the visitors could learn how to identify minerals. The presentation was fully covered by media and it was surprisingly well accepted by public. Results of the project and its goal to actively study and preserve natural heritage was presented to domestic public in interview for Novi Tednik.

COBISS.SI-ID: 25176871For public promotion of research topics and presentation of scientific monographs published within the project we have built an internet page http://webbooks.ijs.si, where monographs »Mineral localities of Slovenia (2007)« and »Minerals of the lead and zinc ore deposit Mežica (2010)« are publically available for browsing and reading in all languages. Soon the new book »Minerals of the mercury ore deposit Idrija (2012)« will be added, too. The main purpose of the web page is a free access to the research topics to all those that can not afford purchasing the books.
F.18 Transfer of new know-how to direct users (seminars, fora, conferences)
Long-term efforts of Mežica and Idrija mines to achieve the international recognition in UNESCO list of world's natural heritage became possible due to exceptional results and promotion through our cooperation in the field of mineralogy, the common natural asset of both regions. During the project both mines entered the European Geopark Network. Cross-border Geopark Peca nad Košuta was established to connect Austrian and Slovenian Carinthias in their joint strive for conservation of their mineralogical heritage, while Geopark Idrija succeded together with the Spanish mercury mine Almadén to make it to the list of the international natural and cultural heritage under the UNESCO protection.
