Darovec, Darko is Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal Acta Histriae. Already from its establishment, the magazine has been enriching the historical environment with important contributions from internationally renowned authors who apply methodologically perfected approaches in their studies of social, legal, demographic and economic history as well as of history of institutions and historical anthropology. Comparing different sources we should distinct fertility »trends« from fertility »patterns«, to get a better estimation of socio-economic and cultural mechanism, affecting fertility and especially illegitimate fertility. There is a continuity of regional illegitimate fertility patterns over 150 years and during times of very strong socio-economic changes. It cannot be said safely, if it's a case of tradition or collective memory - or if it is a continuity of social benefits, nested in illegitimate fertility paradoxically.

The development of the Trieste population in the 18th century and the factors of the demographic growth, with a special emphasis on immigration processes and formation of the Trieste cosmopolitan social composition were presented. There were also set out some methodological approaches, sources and technical questions. Besides, the lecture included themes, such as the demographic politics of the central and local administration, the practice of accepting and rejecting the arriving immigrants and the control over the population as well.

The aim of the meeting was to present to a wider public of teachers/professors of history and other experts of the field a (both qualitative and quantitative) review of the current state in Slovenian historiography on most important migratory occurrences from antiquity to present, as well as some new approaches and new thematic challenges to migration studies in its broader sense.
