This contribution analyses the Late Antique pottery from Tonovcov grad near Kobarid, particularly the second Late Antique (from the end of the 5th and during the entire 6th century AD) and the Early Medieval phase (8th and 9th century). The coarse pottery from both phases shows similarities to the material from the settlements in Friuli. In the layers of the Early Medieval phase the absence of imported pottery is noticeable. The coarse wares from those layers are modest. The majority of the vessels are unornamented and the coarse manufacture shows the traces of uncontrolled firing.
