The issue who is responsible to care for elderly in urban-rural-farm social settings and what factors determine their feeling of loneliness was investigated. In comparison with other two groups farm population preserves more family centred intergenerational relations. This is indicated through living arrangements, expected and actual provision of support to the elderly and allocation of that care among household members. Regarding old aged loneliness family is not the only source against this feeling but also available social ties of the neighbourhood which holds true for all social settings.
