The text deals with the characteristics of the Rákosi regime in the Raba region, with special reference to Gornji Senik. The formation of the new regime was carried out more or less similarly all over the state. The Raba region (and Gornji Senik) became an exposed area due to its geo-political situation and the national structure of the population, particularly after the exclusion of Yugoslavia from the Cominform and the consequent »war hysteria« aimed at Tito. In such circumstances, the Porabje Slovenes became »unreliable« for the communist authorities, and a part of them even »unwanted«. The pressure of the authorities upon the population was reflected in various ways (spyware processes, imprisonments, expulsions, deportations, etc.). In her presentation of the then events, the author relies upon archival sources as well as testimonies of the still living deportees.

The text deals with the impacts of the Yugoslav-Hungarian relations upon the daily life of the Porabje/Raba region population (in the spheres of politics, culture, education, economy,…) in the period between 1945 and 1956. From the second half of 1945 to the beginning of 1948 the status of Slovenes in Hungary was relatively good. They began organizing politically, they established the foundations of Slovene education in the Raba region, they founded a cooperative to promote economy and agriculture, etc. However, parallelly to the increasing of the Informbiro dispute, the situation of Slovenes in Hungary was worsening. The first to suffer the administration attack were the members of political organizations and the teachers of the Slovene language, and in 1950 the first deportations of the Porabje/Raba region families to Hortobágy began. After Stalin's death, the relations between the two states improved, which could also be noticed in the region.
