The purpose of the paper is to deterimine the contrastive rhetorical differences in the use of the interclausal and intersentential and/in used as text structuring devices, whereby we use a corpus-based methodology and a corpus of English-Slovene translations. Results show numerous changes in the use of both interclausal and intersentential and/in which occur in the process of translation, we show that these differences may be attributed to interlingual transfer as well as to adjustments to the rhetorical conventions of the target language.
