The article discusses the question, why women are still underrepresented in Slovenian politics. In spite of the fact that women have on average higher education and are more and more established in other important places in society, the parliament remains male fortress. The reasons for such condition are in systematic obstacles women for entering politics as electoral system, the persistence of political parties to maintain status quo on key positions in Slovenian politics, low prestige of politics as a profession, not yet well established position of women in recently gained position and their overburdened with care for family and private sphere.
