This paper focuses on phylogenetic and taxonomic reassessment of the prevailing concept of the ascomycete genus Cosmospora (Nectriaceae, Hypocreales) using fresh isolates and historical strains. This genus has been assumed to be polyphyletic because of its anamorphic and biological diversity. In our work sequences of two protein encoding genes, the second largest subunit of RNA polymerase II (rpb2), and a new phylogenetic marker, the larger subunit of ATP citrate lyase (acl1) were used.
