Approved project titled »Diversity and phylogeography of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in mofette areas« in the frame of the Royal Society International Joint Projects scheme with the partner institution University of York, UK, Department of Biology, principal investigators (PIs) Dr. I. Maček and Dr. T. Helgason. In the frame of the project, several activities took place in 2011 including research visits of PIs in both directions, invited talk of Dr. Helgason at University of Ljubljana and exchange of graduate and PhD students and research work at University of York.
D.01 Chairing over/coordinating (international and national) projects
General knowledge on possibilities of application of soil microbes in sustainable agriculture is low in Slovenia. The first national collection of symbiotic arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi will be established within this project in collaboration with the Swiss partner Agroscope Reckenholz-Tänikon Research Station ART, Zurich. Activities in promotion of the use of AM fungi in agriculture and environment protection will be done.
