COBISS.SI-ID: 7170425General knowledge on possibilities of application of soil microbes in sustainable agriculture is low in Slovenia. The first national collection of symbiotic arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi will be established within this project in collaboration with the Swiss partner Agroscope Reckenholz-Tänikon Research Station ART, Zürich. Activities in promotion of the use of AM fungi in sustainable agriculture and environment protection will be performed.

Two presentations at the conference of the International Mycorrhiza Society - ICOM7 (International Conference of Mycorrhiza) in New Delhi, India, January 2013, where the main findings of this project have been presented to international community of researchers, specialised in mycorrhiza research. (1) Oral presentation of I. Maček titled: Impact of long-term soil hypoxia on arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal communities in mofette areas (natural CO2 springs). (2) Poster presentation of N. Šibanc titled: Biogeography of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal communities in hypoxic soil – evidence from the Slovenian, Italian and Czech natural CO2 springs.
B.03 Paper at an international scientific conference
COBISS.SI-ID: 7406713Approved project titled »Diversity and phylogeography of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in mofette areas« in the frame of the Royal Society International Joint Projects scheme with the partner institution University of York, UK, Department of Biology, principal investigators (PIs) Dr. I. Maček and Dr. T. Helgason. In the frame of the project, several activities took place in 2011-2013 including research visits of PIs in both directions, invited talk of Dr. Helgason at University of Ljubljana and exchange of graduate and PhD students and research work at University of York (in sum 9-month research work of the PhD student Nataša Šibanc in York).
