The aim of the work was to find out, how the fertilization of soil, on which grows common buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum), influences the content of polyphenols, flavonoids and tannins in flowers, upper and lower leaves, and seeds of observed plants, and what concentration (percentage in dry matter) of studied antioxidants is present in mentioned individual parts of plants. The results show that the fertilization decreased the concentration of the flavonoids and tannins in leaves, but not in flowers and seeds. Fertilization had no effect on the concentration of polyphenols.

COBISS.SI-ID: 2176591Common buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) cvs. Pyra and Siva, were exposed to three treatments: water deficit, selenium (Se) foliar spraying and the combination of both. Water deficit, Se spraying and the combination of both resulted in shorter cvs. Pyra and Siva. Combined effects of Se addition and UV-B radiation were studied on common buckwheat, cv. Darja. The effective quantum yield of PSII was lower due to UV-B radiation in buckwheat plants and was mitigated by the addition of Se. Addition of Se also mitigated the stunting effect of UV-B radiation and the lowering of biomass in cv. Darja.
