The purpose of the presented research was to investigate the impact of two chemically different dyestuffs in two colours and two concentrations, together with application of various UV absorbers (TiO2, lignin and extract from pine wood) on blocking properties against UV radiation of two structurally different fabrics made from PA and PES fibres. The obtained results indicated important impact of dyestuffs and selected absorbers have also great influence on UPF values and, therefore, the combination of both, absorbers and dyestuffs offer maximum UV protection.

The aim of the presented paper was to assess the effect of dyes and natural (bio) UV absorbers, particularly lignin and other derivatives extracted from pine wood on UV protection properties of various fabrics for summer cloths. Also, the oxidized hydroxymatairesinols such as oxo-matairesinol, ArMe.X-lignin and their derivatives, which have high absorption capacity in the UVB region, as well as pynosylvines with conjugated double bonds that are important for the UVA region, were examined closely.
