Toolmakers companies are under increasing pressure of the market, which requires tools with tighter tolerances and short manufacturing terms. Accuracy of machine tool together with appropriate technology contributes the most in achieving suitable accuracy of workpiece. Therefore, the method of measuring the accuracy of the machine is a very important factor in the verification of new and existing machine tools. Two ways of measuring accuracy are presented; first method assesses work based on the measured accuracy of the test piece in accordance with ISO 10791-7, while the second method uses laser measurement techniques to determine the positioning accuracy and repeatability.

COBISS.SI-ID: 12178203Measurements with the Ballbar QC10 and the ML10 laser system can be used for geometric accuracy analysis of the CNC machine-tools. The best solution is to combine the use of both devices. In this case the laser system is used for a calibration after a major mechanical intervention on the CNC machine-tool, where as the Ballbar QC10 device is used for quick and frequent check-ups of the accuracy of the CNC machine-tool. Such activities dictate regular or preventive maintenance of the CNC machine-tool parts.
