Organizers of the International Conference on Chemistry for Health, Athens, 9-14 September 2012, invited dr. Podobnik to give a talk at this meeting. This was a great honor as well as an excellent opportunity for the presentation of the results of this project, our research group and the National Institute of Chemistry. Furthermore, it was a great opportunity to exchange scientific knowledge and make new contacts with scientists form all over the world, especially from the host institute in Athens.
B.04 Guest lecture
COBISS.SI-ID: 5059610Dr. Podobnik attended the International Conference on Biomolecular Forms and Functions, 8-11 January 2013, Bangalore, with a poster. There was a lot of interest in our work, especially from PhD students. In parallel to attending the conference, dr. Podobnik visited the collaborator’s group (Prof. Visweswariah) at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, where the conference was held as well. Dr. Podobnik and Prof. Visweswariah are the leaders of the bilateral project which topic is closely related to this current project. During this visit they discussed results and future plans. Dr. Podobnik also met with other group leaders at the institute.
B.06 Other
COBISS.SI-ID: 5171482Dr. Podobnik was a PhD supervisor to Urška Dermol whose thesis included structural and biochemical studies on two members of Class III cAMP phosphodiestersases, Rv0805 and MPPED2. Urška Dermol contributed a lot to the realization of the reported project. Her PhD thesis was graded with the highest marks. She authored two papers, described in chapters 7.1. and 7.2.
D.09 Tutoring for postgraduate students
COBISS.SI-ID: 4862746In this work, a diploma student Omar Naneh under supervision of Dr. Podobnik, purified and crystallized universal stress protein (USP) which is a substrate of the unique mycobacterial cAMP-dependent acetlytranferase, which is a part of the reported project. His thesis was graded with the highest mark. Omar Naneh is currently a PhD student of Prof. Gregor Anderluh and is thus a member of the same research group as Dr. Podobnik

COBISS.SI-ID: 3941496In this work, a diploma student Davor Obradović under supervision of Dr. Podobnik, purified, biochemically characterized and crystallized the mycobacterial cAMP-dependent acetlytranferase, wild type and one of the functional mutants, which is a part of the reported project. His thesis was graded with the highest mark. DAvor Obradović is currently a PhD student of Prof. Peter Maček at the Biotechnical Faculty in Ljubljana.
