COBISS.SI-ID: 4187418DNA coding beyond triplets : [grand prize winners at the International Genetically Engineered Machine competition-iGEM project 2010, Cambridge, Massachussets Institute of Technolog, November 2010 First place at the competition of research projects in synthetic biology at the University MIT in the year 2010. Researchers of the programme group initiated research using the approach of synthetic biology and organized a student team from the University of Ljubljana, which in the year -2010 successfully completed research projects in the field of Medicine and health, and nanomaterials. In 2009 and 2012 our team won the “Grand Prize” award at the international competition in Synthetic biology held at the elite university MIT, USA. In 2007 and 2009, our project was again among the six finalists. Apart from the scientific result, the success in the elite competition is very important for the promotion of the quality of Slovenian science and education [COBISS.SI-ID publications: 3854362; 3855130; 3855642; 3856154; 4067354; Radio and TV reports: 3643418; 3856922; 4068378; Interview: 4068122] at the international level and for the promotion of the study of natural sciences in Slovenia as well as for the development of synthetic biology as an important young discipline.
