Among fascinating aspects of orbweaving spider biology are unusual behaviors relating to sexual biology. In this study we demonstrated coevolution between sexes in the complexity of their genital morphologies and sexual behaviors. We explained the found evolutionary pattern with the controversial process of sexually antagonistic koevolution.

Phylogenetic hypotheses of relatedness among organisms may be used for biological and biogeographical predictions because closely related species are biologically similar. In this study we tested and confirmed a phylogenetically informed prediction about web architecture and ecology of spiders, both previously unstudied.
