In the article the basic emphasis is given on the reception of Yugoslavia among the Slovenian elites. Author is pointing out that most important members of the opinion making elites were very unsatisfied with the Yugoslavia because of the centralistic pressures ad undemocratic political system. On the other hand author also emphasizes the faster cultural and economic development. The thesis is that the Slovenes went out of Yugoslavia because of the permanent political blockade and the inability of the democratic transformation within communist political and economic system.

Representations of the textile industry are strongly interrelated with gender relations and ideologies. Even though not as highly valued in the present globalizing world, nimble fingers are an important constituent in the identity construction of female textile workers on the shop floor of a still-operating factory in Slovenia. This article focuses on female textile workers’ experiences of postsocialist transformation in this factory while addressing changing meanings of work and skill in relation to the body and notions of femininity.

Author analyzes the process of hygienization in Ljubljana which contributed to higher quality of well being of population and health conditions. Hygienization started at the end of 19th century with the construction of modern waterworks and sewage system. The process was prolonged far into the 20th century. Only the construction and extensions of the underground capillary system and channels and the introduction of water and canalization connections pipes in the houses, on the threshold of the 20th century, contributed gradually to the improvement of hygienic standards and health conditions.

Author presents in article the replecment of economic and social elites after the communist seizure of power in 1945. The processes presented in the article attest to the restructuring of social power in Slovenia after 1945. The centre was transferred into a political sphere, where the Communist Party had a monopoly. The recruitment mechanism was different. Education or expertise were no longer important as it was prior the second world war.
