In this paper, Dr. Pelikan deals with the attitude of some of the key ideological leaders of Slovenian political camps towards major ideological issues. He points out the generally very ambivalent attitude of the leading Slovenian Catholic intellectuals towards Marxism, the national question, etc. He presents some of the most blatant examples and tries to explain the reasons for the distortion of history on the cases of some of the leading ideologists of the Slovenian political Catholicism and their relationship to some for the key issues.

Particular emphasis was placed on methodological approaches and interpretative problems, which must be coped with because of a lack of suitable statistics and other historical sources.

From the prehistoric period this area was crossed with important navigable routes that connected Northern Adriatic with the Mediterranean. Also glass-working spread from this area to the inland via the Adriatic routes through the trade of raw materials and products as well as craftsmen exchange. The meeting presented research about trade with raw materials and raw glass in antiquity, imports of glass products from Mediterranean workshops and trade routes of Italic workshops in the Adriatic area.

Our aim was to implement the results of our research work on the field of presentation and promotion of heritage. The subject of this year meeting was museums and tourism – topic given by the international museum council-ICOM. Work organised in the form of workshops enabled students and young employees of museums to research and learn how our research results can be disseminated to the museum public.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1647571The symposium provided a balanced forum for discussion on topics of all the basic forms of art (architecture, sculpture, painting) from 1600 to 1797 on the territory of the Republic of Venice. All thematic sections were deliberately designed so as to specifically promote constructive debate on recent discoveries and new findings among participants from Slovenia, Italy and Croatia, who belong to different generations and work in academic and research institutions, museums, and institutions for the protection of cultural heritage.
