Emotions have become a scientific trend. Under the »emotional turn« label the scientists of various disciplines (natural sciences, psychology, sociology, culturology) are studying feelings and emotional worlds. In its own reflection of these sciences, the literary science has introduced a broad spectrum of methodological approaches to analyze literary texts and it studies interculturality in literature departing from completely different starting-points. Although literature is not foreign to dealing with emotions and their analysis, the interdiscplinary approach to this theme, however, is new. The members of the group discussed emotional discourses and concepts of identity (Kos), patriotism among the intellectuals of German and Slovenian descent in Carniola in the 19th century (Miladinović Zalaznik), the antipathy of Joseph Roth and its backgrounds (Lughofer), joy over discomfort (Leskovec) and the complexity of emotional worlds and complicated feelings as a discourse in the future (Šlibar). 31 contributions, of which 5 are members of the research group.

COBISS.SI-ID: 264010496In this book, based on Thomas Bernhard, the question is asked, how and under what conditions it is possible that literature triggers public debate processes and contributes to social and political changes. In particular the cross-cultural aspect of this question was highlighted. In particular intercultural approaches like the postcolonial studies provide an actuality of this question. Contributors are eminent scholars from different countries like Hans Höller (Salzburg), Bernhard Sorg (Bonn), Erika Tunner (Paris), Mareille Tabah (Bruxelles), Stephen D. Dowden (Brandeis, Mass.) and Uwe Schütte (Birmingham). This is an important contribution to Slovene national identity and recognition of cultural heritage, published in the beautiful book Z nitjo zapisamana zgodovina (History written by a thread (NMI 2012). It outlines methodological, conceptual and lexical problems that presented themselves in Tanja Žigon's research over several years of searching for archival sources on lace in Vienna, Innsbruck, Graz and Ljubljana. It also deals with the specific translation problems when translating from German into Slovene. The article is a thorough study of intercultural contacts between the 16th and 19th centuries, demonstrating excellent knowledge of culture-specific elements in a particular cultural and historical context, and thus it presents a companion to the translations which accompanied the lace exhibition in the Municipal Museum of Idrija in 2008. As Idrija is included in the UNESCO list of cultural heritage its significance is not only national, but global. The English translation of the volume will be published in 2013.
