The conference publication Obdobja 29 deals with the least researched area of slovene literature – the contemporary literature from 1980 to 2010. The various papers analyse the meaning and the role of contemporary slovene literature in different contexts and offer new perspectives on slovene literature, culture and identity. In the recent publication 59 papers of 61 scientists are published, proving that recent slovene literature can be seen as a unfinished process, linked to literary, cultural and political changes as well as numerous other social challenges.

Some papers focus on the function of the margins for literary production, other papers shed light on the specific circumstances, in which German authors were writing inmidst of other cultures and languages. Special emphasis of the monograph is on all those activities of the literary field that co-create a literary environment, i.e. the press, the role of publishing houses, schools, literary circles, theaters etc.

COBISS.SI-ID: 253840896The research of reading strategies of real readers is rare in the scientific community in contrast to the multitude of theories and reading models. Therefore it is of the great importance to study empirically the intercultural reading strategies of future teachers. The study discloses several misleading hypotheses and draws attention to the need of changing the perception and conceptualization of reading in a foreign language, but in the first place it offers a good basis for the change of teaching contents and strategies.
