Bioethics, as a field of applied ethics, deals with some of the most urgent moral dilemas od modern society. This is important in the time when Slovenia has to form some new bodies or commisions dealing with bioethics and medical ethics. Our conference had great impact in scientific community, but had also drawn significant attention of concerned public and media.

Diderot's material God is a paradoxical deity who is not the creator or cause of the universe, but its effect in the same way the material soul is an effect of bodily organization: just as internally diversified and complex matter, making up the human body, develops its own soul, which is not a spiritual entity distinct from the body that produced it but, as Diderot puts it, portion of the body, and therefore material.

COBISS.SI-ID: 22774311The treatise claims how a lot of the things that a few years ago were considered to be sophisticated and chic became in our nowadays culture regarded as a filthy habit and a nuisance hazardous to health. Such practices had once been culturally evaluated and put within the frame of the »holy«. Nowadays such a concept of »holy« is contended with a reason that considers itself to be »pure« and strives to disenchant the world.

Horstmann tries to found the movement known as German Idealism, uniting above all three philosophers, Fichte, Schelling and Hegel, on a united conceptual, logical and methodological basis. The starting-point of all three philosophers is an attempt to surpass the traditional, early modern standards of rationality, an encounter with the elements of the Kantian theoretical philosophy and the reconstruction of the natural understanding of the world.
