COBISS.SI-ID: 43755362The 1st conference of the International academic assoc. STCS (Specific Topics in Chinese Studies) which has been established at FF in 2010 by Jana Rošker and Nataša V. Suhadolnik. It focused upon cultural achievements in early China – in mainly unexplored period in Chinese history. The conference hosted over 20 participants with papers from EU, Canada and Asia. The rector of the UL, the ambassador of the P.R.C. and main representatives of the CI were also present at the opening. A scientific monograph with the most relevant contributions will be published by Cambridge Scholars Press.

COBISS.SI-ID: 43846242The paper deals with the issue of the reflection of ancient Chinese cosmological notions and concepts in the iconographic design of Han mural paintings. A thorough analysis of the paintings, which included all Han tombs with murals, showed that murals together with the architectural structure and other burial objects reflected the entire cosmic image - correlative cosmology yin-yang wuxing which gets it concrete image in symbolic codes of individual iconographic motifs. The paper discusses in detail the symbolic polarity of the cosmic forces yin and yang as revealed in the iconographic motifs.

COBISS.SI-ID: 45268578Invited lecture at 4th ESHS conference , where he exposed the role of Jesuits in China in establishing scientific links between Europe and China in Qing time with the special stress on the contributions of Slov. missioner Hallerstein. This presentation is of great importance for Slovenia since it was part of the panel on the role of Jesuits in transmission of science from Europe to other parts of the world, attended by distinguished researchers of Jesuit science from several European countries for which the topic on activities of Slov. missionary in China was new and attracted much attention.
