The monograph entitled Between Italy and Illyricum is the first attempt at a historical synthesis of the present Slovene space with the neighbouring surroundings in late Classical Antiquity. Temporally, it covers nearly 4 centuries, namely the time from the appearance of barracks emperors (235) to the early 7th century. It considers all known sources, whereby the focus is on analysing literary sources (around 260 or, rather, 400 if several individual texts by certain authors are taken into account). These sources provide information on the political, military, religious and cultural history, while the social and economic development is represented to a lesser degree. The first scientific synthesis of this period will serve as a foundation for future research.

On the crossroad of worlds is a comprehensive overview of the Slovene history from the archaeological periods to the late 18th century; in addition to the political events, it discusses in a concise way the social circumstances and changes as well as issues related to culture and economy. The book was written based on a new conceptual starting point and moves away from the established national and historical narratives. It centres on the Slovene territory with the neighbouring regions instead of just the history of one identity-based community (the Slovenes) the history of which has been extended back to the periods when said community did not even exist as such. The book is based on extensive research conducted by the authors themselves, while also taking into account the latest achievements of other researchers, thus reflecting the current research situation.

The book discusses the national and political position of the Slovenes during WWI. For the first time in Slovene historiography, the then situation of the Slovenes is critically analysed from the aspect of the Habsburg Monarchy leaders. It assesses the realistic political influence of the Slovene plans concerning the reform of the Habsburg Monarchy and why the Slovene politics, otherwise loyal to the dynasty, moved away from and began opposing it, and the extent to which this was in line with the opinion of the masses.

Interest shown in the publication of the monograph The Break. Svet in Slovenci v prvi svetovni vojni [The World and the Slovenes during World War I] in Russian points to its impact in the international sphere. The book presents the world, European and regional conditions and, in particular, the issue of Slovenehood, its status under Austria-Hungary, its fate upon its disintegration, and the attitude of the great powers (Russia, Great Britain, France, the USA) towards the Slovene national issue. In the process it emphasises military topics as well, particularly the role of the Isonzo Front and its commander, Field Marshal Svetozar Boroević. The book was the cause for the conference held by Russian and Slovene historians on World War I in October 2012 in Moscow; the topic of the book was also presented there in the papers of both authors: Vnutrennee i meždunarodnoe položenie Slovencev vo vremja Pervoj mirovoj vojny (Repe) and Feldmaršal Svetozar Boroevič fon Bojna - s veršin slavy na svalku (Nećak).

The monograph discusses environmental history of Alpine, Adriatic and Pannonian regions in the Middle Ages and in the Early Modern Times. It contains 23 chapters and 422 pages. Authors from Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Italy, Germany, Hungary and Switzerland focus on history of forests and trees, climate, waters, natural events and disasters, on history of mining, exploration of mountains as well as on environmental aspects of agrarian, urban history and history of mentalities; topics are in many cases approached through case studies. On the other hand, there are chapters dedicated mainly to methodological questions and programmatic concepts. The work stresses changeability of environment as a consequence of coexisting natural and social factors, it discusses the role of environment for people, human adaptation to environment and its change, and emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary analysis in environmental history. 75 figures (maps, historical topographical portraits, graphs, photographs and illustrations) as well as 18 tables enhance understanding of the text.
