The lecture, which took place at Ca' Foscari University in Venice on 11 September 2012, was aimed at scholars of language and translation as well as at students. It presented the main concepts of a functionally oriented translation theory, exemplifying them with texts from different languages.

COBISS.SI-ID: 49788258The international conference of the Slovene Association for the Study of English organized by Smiljana Komar had as its theme "Changes in Epochal Paradigms and the Opportunities They Offer for English Studies". It took place on 10-12 May 2012 in Ljubljana, in the Cankarjev dom conference centre. The event was attended by 140 participants, eighty of whom presented papers; two thirds of the partipants came from abroad.

Pliny's monumental Naturalis historia is the longest survining Latin prose text. Matej Hriberšek intends to translate all of it into Slovene. In 2012, the first volume of the Slovene translation has come out; the text is accompanied by introductory essays, notes and critical comments.
