The selection discusses topics, relevant to the studies of Slovene and Slavic languages today, whilst presenting plans for professional and scientific work in the future. The monograph also aims at encouraging an integral consideration about the further development of Slovene linguistic studies.

The results of five years of research and development in the field of automatic term recognition in a mono- and bilingual context are presented. After a review of state-of-the-art the paper describes the main algorithms for the identification of terminologically relevant single and multi-word units in texts and presents the author's own implementation of these methods for the English-Slovene language pair. The main part of the paper describes an innovative method of term alignment between languages.

The article deals with the valency of verbs of knowing, i.e., uměti, věděti (with its secondary imperfective vědati), znati, in Old Church Slavonic. The meanings are elucidated, the denotative possibilities given, and they are juxtaposed by meaning and combinatory patterns, which are then treated with a view to their stability and competition with one another. At the end of the article, the combinatory peculiarities of the analysed verbs of knowing are compared.
