The article discusses the complex problem of identity in the age of globalization in a way that requires a departure from conventional approaches in this area of research. Studying the fate of identities within globalized social contexts presents a chance to deepen our awareness of of their perpelxity on the one hand and, on the other to acknowledge new challenges and opportunities in this regard.

Adaptation of societies to new conditions requires careful consideration of successful models of multiculturalism, intercultural dialogue and the need for education for democratic citizenship.
