Saguia el-Hamra, Río de Oro is a volume of sociological texts about the occupied area of Western Sahara, which was issued at the cultural day of Western Sahara that was organized in Cankarjev dom in October 2013. More then 300 visitors visited the event, where different workshops for children and pupils were organized, projection of documentary film, round table with diplomatic representation and other guests from Western Sahara and a concert of musicians form the refugee camp of Saharauis were organized. At this opportunity the first volume on this topic in Slovene (and English) was published. Publication is compound from three pillars: the first part elaborates on the problem of recognition of Western Sahara in the light of international politics, especially in connection with EU and UN; the second part represent articles, which contextualize the influence of the environment, the problem of natural resources and their exploitation; the third part considers the social relations in the Western Sahara society.

Engaged stance and findings strengthen the profession with new knowledge while it also represents new assessment for the professional status of the field.

The research group has conducted an extensive qualitative and quantitative research through personal interviews with a representative sample of self-employed in culture and through extensive online research. The results have contributed to thorough overview of the current state and encompassed cultural policy recommendations and suggestions for improving the situation of self-employed in culture.

Ars & Humanitas is an interdisciplinary journal, which covers the areas of arts and humanities and enhances the dialogue between different theoretical orientations. In the context of globalization processes, the journal devotes special attention to national and regional specifics of humanities and social sciences within the European Union, as well as the promotion of national culture and the arts. Accordingly, it is one of the important missions of the journal to raise awareness about the importance of language in the development of the humanities, because the language in the humanities is not only a communication tool. It is also inextricably linked with the development of the human sciences.

Ksenija Vidmar Horvat has been a member of editorial board of internationally akcnowledged scientific journal The European Journal of Cultural Studies that deals with topics of this programme since 2009. This journal is a major international, peer-reviewed journal that promotes a broad-ranging conception of cultural studies rooted in lived experience. The journal is an interdisciplinary platform for charting new questions and new research, publishing articles on topics including gendered identities, cultural citizenship, migration, post-colonial criticism, consumer cultures, media and film, and cultural policy.
