The volume brings diverse contributions ranging from examples of contemporary anthropological urban studies to theoretical reflections on the history and position of urban studies in Slovene ethnology and anthropology, folklore studies, museum studies and geography. The first part of the volume primarily reflects on the history of discipline and critically assesses the use of conceptual apparatus. The second part brings contributions that represent various contemporary urban studies in anthropology, studies of urban identities or studies of social and cultural phenomena in the cities. Many of the members of the research group presented their views upon these topics: Jaka Repič, Jože Hudales, Bojan Baskar, Nena Židov, Rajko Muršič in Miha Kozorog.
