The discussion demonstrates the situation of Slovenian language within EU, i. e. in the light of European year languages and European year of intercultural dialogue. Slovenian language experience in the former common state is shown, and then language relations an the position of Slovenian language in the new community bein decisively determined by the decision on multiple languages in EU are analysed.
