The monograph addresses the reflection of humanistic principles and views in the works of Primož Trubar and Maksim Grek. The differences between the Slovenian Protestant reformer and Russian Orthodox theologian, both of whom were influenced by the Italian humanistic tradition, derive from the schism in theological tradition that they adhered to and within which they possessed certain positions. Trubar co-created Protestant tradition in Slovenia, while Maksim Grek, Greek by birth, already belonged to the system of Russian Orthodox theology.

The book analyses conditions in historiography in Slovenia and the burning issues, such as the problem of continuity of Slovenian history in the Middle Ages and Early Modern Period, as well as the culture of memory and actions and utilization of history. The differences of views in the epoch of bourgeoisie, the Second World War and the building of socialism, which are partly addressed in a comparative manner, are not only indicative for the disharmony in the strategic thinking of history, but are also an important stance in the basic divisions in the Slovenian publc space.
