COBISS.SI-ID: 34239533The monograph focuses on the triad: performances, performers, and researchers. Researchers so far have discovered that all these parts of the triad in the field are interconnected and in interplay. But researchers are not the only ones researching the folk culture: performers also study, read the folklore studies, and seek contacts with researchers. The most recent issues are the question of designing and performing cultural heritage on the one hand, and the frame of UNESCO’s definition on the other. The monograph brings together the researchers’ and the performers’ points of view in order to explore the ways they shape and co-design the rituals, both in theory and in practice. Following issues are discussed: - contacts between researchers and performers and their viewpoints, - negotiation strategies and transfer of knowledge between performers and researchers, - performers as domestic researchers and as a link between performances and researchers, - performers, performances, researchers, and the UNESCO designation of cultural heritage, - cultural institutions, training the folklore performers.

COBISS.SI-ID: 265279744The presentation is focused on Kopitar’s work for linguistics and oral tradition in the time of Enlightment and Romanticism, especially from the perspective of his cooperation with J. Grimm and V. S. Karadžić. Kopitar (1780–1844), Slovenian linguist, censor, and scriptor in Vienna, was one of the founders of Slavic studies and the author of the renowned first Slovenian scientific grammar. He was also translator of the Freising Manuscripts (Brižinski spomeniki). As an accomplished philologist, Kopitar maintained contacts and corresponded with numerous intellectuals of that period, notably with J. Dobrovský and the great German philologists J. and W. Grimm. As a mentor to V. Karadžić, whom he encouraged to publish literary folklore, dictionaries, and grammar, he introduced Karadžić to J. Grimm and made references of Karadžić in his letters to Grimm, who took Karadžić under his guidance. Kopitar and Grimm occasionally directly participated on Karadžić’s publications, and introduced his work in Europe. The presentation follows the interaction of the research and life paths of brothers Grimm, Kopitar and Karadžić.

COBISS.SI-ID: 34596909After 15 years, the Summer Visual School in Ljubljana was renamed the Summer School of Visual Ethnography. Ten students were enrolled in the school, two of which were from abroad. The video production mentor was N. Križnar, the montage mentor was M. Peče. The guest of the school was Paolo Parmeggiani from the University of Udine, Italy. Upon completion of the presentation of the methodology of visual ethnography as well as the montage and framing exercises, each enrolled student chose a theme, researched it and prepared a script. They documented data, described it, drafted a montage plan and edited a film. In this fashion, five films were made concerning the Ljubljana region: one concerning a person selling vegetables every day in the Ljubljana market, one concerning Kavalir, the bike transport system in the city center, one concerning the printer Drpič, and one concerning typical urban locations. A public presentation for all the school's students and the films' protagonists was held at ZRC SAZU upon the completion of the school's program.
