The article discusses the dissemination of polychoral technique at the turn of the 17th century, and its influence on music practices in central Europe. By a new interpretation of the relevant sources it presents a new aspect of music practices in the mentioned period.

Risto Savin wrote ten instrumental chamber works: a string quartet, two piano trios, a cello sonata, and six violin pieces, of which two are arrangements of his own orchestral works. The paper places Savinʼs instrumental chamber opus in the context of the chamber music of the time in Slovene lands and demonstrates that the composer paved the way for Slovene chamber repertoire from its very beginnings.

The education manuals for piano-learning from the first half of the nineteenth century that are kept in the National and university library and Academy of music in Ljubljana are one of the sources for the identification of Viennese influence on the piano-learning of Ljubljana's citizens. The newspapers reveal some other indicators for the implementation of the piano intheir social life: the music market of instruments and piano compositions for amateurs and private learning opportunities.
