Vocational and professional education and the formation of professional identity are in crisis in Slovenia, a crisis in part caused by changes in the field of employment. Education has not yet found a response. Data about the movement of young people indicate a great deal of vertical transferability within the educational system. This contribution is significant in that it addresses the internal consistency of the system and strives to define the balanced development of human resources within the socio-economic system.
F.24 Improvements to existing system-wide, normative and programme solutions, and methods
COBISS.SI-ID: 38978146The commonly-accepted hypothesis that pedagogy is a normative science which emerged from the philosophical, anthropological and political theories of the Enlightenment becomes interesting when regarded in the light of postmodern philosophy. Lyotard’s thesis about the death of grand narratives questions the legitimacy of the milestones of pedagogy as science. In order to find a new basis of legitimization in pedagogy, we explored the possibility of constructing an ethical argumentation on Levinas’ ethics and presented the basic ideas of the inductive approach.

COBISS.SI-ID: 40516194The author used comparative methodology to compare similarities and differences in the education of adults and senior citizens. It defines a discontinuity between adult and gerontological learning processes in terms of goals, content and motivation for participation. Adult education programs emphasize education for potential employment and the relationship to knowledge is characterized as managerial and utilitarian. Gerontological education is oriented toward the second half of lifelong learning, specifically personal development, the meaning of live and contribution to culture.
F.17 Transfer of existing technologies, know-how, methods and procedures into practice
COBISS.SI-ID: 41136482Dissatisfaction with the efficacy of preventive programs in the area of drug abuse offered at primary and secondary schools have led researchers to explore the notion that the lack of success may be a result of the fact that prevention begins too late and that drug prevention programs should be addressed to younger (preschool) children and their parents. The author of the text shows that the validity of this hypothesis is impossible to prove at this time.
F.24 Improvements to existing system-wide, normative and programme solutions, and methods
COBISS.SI-ID: 39318626Directed (or streamlined) education has been characterized by program differentiation. These programs were intended to share a unified goal and educational concept. As a response to the needs of a heterogeneous population, school plans included instruments of internal and flexible differentiation although, in practice, these plans were not implemented and enrolment was politically regulated. The consequences were concealed differentiation, the lowering of grading criteria, and the worsening of social differentiation.
