The article deals with some processes generating increases of research collaboration. The major empirical focus is on the increasing tendency of co-authorship in sociology in Slovenia. Bibliometric analyses, based on two joint national research information systems (SICRIS and COBISS), shows the amount of co-authored publications increased over the last two decades. Blockmodeling of co-authorship networks has shown that the sociologists who are not systematically tied to strongly connected and well-established research groups produce the most excellent scientific publications in their field.

COBISS.SI-ID: 30087517The main objective of the chapter is to demonstrate that an investigation of the digital divide in the temporal perspective requires a wider and more holistic approach; if this requirement is not met, the results could prove to be biased and misleading which could in turn have a strong influence on the policy-making processes. Another aim is to provide a transparent way of considering different options for regulation and to improve the policy-making process through the development and implementation of an integral methodological approach.

COBISS.SI-ID: 29491037This paper aims to make a contribution to overcoming key constraints on assistive technology uptake in the domains of social care and healthcare for the elderly. Constraints refer mainly to the lack of strategic planning and cooperation among the groups of key stakeholders and the identification of funding frameworks and business models. The paper delivers a decision support tool, aiding the decision-making process concerning the strategic management of the (wider) exploitation and deployment of telecare services in Slovenia.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3539045The paper provides a concise insight into the present stage of development and usage of assistive technology in Slovenia. On the one hand, it shows that assistive technology for older people in Slovenia is not yet well developed while on the other hand, it emphasizes the important role of assistive technology for intergenerational cooperation. In its conclusion the article identifies the most obvious constraints on the uptake of assistive technology in Slovenia.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3536997Andrej Mrvar (in co-operation with Vladimir Batagelj) worked on the further development of the program package for large network analysis – PAJEK. PAJEK is used widely in scientific and non-scientific areas all around the world. Its usage increased significantly after the monograph on PAJEK was published in 2005 by Cambridge University Press. In 2009 an expanded version of the monograph was published in Japanese language. All the documentation can be retrieved from the web page: http://pajek.imfm.si
