This paper assesses implementation of a triple business sustainability model within the hotel industry which refers to economic, environmental and social business line. First, study develops a sustainable efficiency business model and its indicators for each of business lines. Second, paper applies the model to the Slovenian tourism sector and shows whether hotel managers monitor all three sets of indicators and, if so, how much. In the Slovenian hotel sector managers are much more committed to the economic business line and neglect the noneconomic business lines which they also view as being less important.

Achieving competitive advantage for any destination in times of rapid global change requires tourism stakeholders to have a clear understanding of tourism trends. The challenges are particularly acute for emerging destinations such as Slovenia. The paper discusses tools for measuring destination performance with particular focus on Importance Performance Analysis (IPA). The findings reveal that there are a number of areas in which the Slovene tourism industry considers itself to be under performing in the implementation of strategies to eliminate drift. Relevant policy implications can be derived from the findings.

This paper analyses the willingness to pay for electricity generated from renewable energy sources in Slovenia. The results confirm that age, household income, education and environmental awareness play the most important role in explaining household attitudes to green electricity programmes. While the willingness to participate in green electricity programmes is influenced by education and environmental awareness, the willingness to pay for green electricity predominantly depends on household income. The expressed median willingness to pay is found to exceed the current level of mandatory charges for green electricity. Nevertheless, recent increases in final electricity prices might have already exhausted the capacity for additional voluntary contributions.

The main purpose of this study is to provide the needed additional quantitative evidence regarding the introduction of environmental technologies, and to increase the possibility for generalization and thus policy application of conclusions. To achieve that purpose, a conceptual model is developed, and then tested on a large database of firms from various industries with the use of structural equation modeling. The results show that policy measures, past environmental investments, the importance of environmental technologies for customers and the firm performance have a positive effect on environmental investments.

In scientific monograph the time perspective is systematically introduced in comparative analysis both as a concept and as a quantifiable measure. A novel generic statistical measure S-time-distance is introduced and generalised to complement conventional measures in time series comparisons, regression models, forecasting and monitoring, and to provide from existing data new insights due to an added dimension of analysis.
