Minimum costs of living in Slovenia were estimated for the purpose of intended revision of the minimum income in the current Social Assistance and Services Act. The alternative minimum income levels were compared with the poverty threshold. The equivalence scales were discussed, and consequences of a higher level of minimum income for the state budget evaluated. The results have been used by the government (Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs) in drafting of the new legislation in this field. They were also used as the basis for the revised minimum wage level.

It has been established that while young generations and new generations will lose from the pension reform, even complete implementation of the reform might not be sufficient to compensate for unfavourable demographic developments, as the volume of supplementary pension saving is insufficient at present to compensate the deterioration of rights from the first pension pillar.

The work provides an assessment of the current state and intentions to invest in eco-technologies as well as the development and testing of the model of introduction of eco-technologies for Slovenian firms. The results show that incentive-providing policy measures really have a positive impact on eco-investments. Eco-investments in the past, the importance for consumers and business performance also have positive effects.
