For over a decade administration science has been exploring the issue of improved regulations – that is, creating regulations in such a way that prior to or following the adoption of a regulatory measure, especially regulations, an assessment of its effects on different societal players is made and then used to select the optimum choice from among the various alternatives. These are interdisciplinary viewpoints, in which legal elements intersect with political science, sociology, economics, and organization and management issues.

Faculty of Administration, University of Ljubljana, has from June 18 to 19, 2009 organized the third international symposium on the development of public administration in South-East Europe called "Third International Symposium on the Development of Public Administration in South-East Europe". The symposium was held at the Faculty of Administration and attended by more than 50 participants from 10 countries of the South-East Europe (Serbia, Czech Republic, Kosovo, Macedonia, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Finland, Hungary and Slovenia).
