We have prepared, validated and published a battery of original psycho-diagnostic instruments to assess various aspects of infants’, toddlers’, children’s and adolescents’ language competence, namely the Communicative Development Inventories, the Check-list of Titles and Authors of Children's Books, and the Test of General Language: Written Communication and the Storytelling Test. We have educated and trained the professionals to use the instruments for the purposes of screening, psycho-diagnostic assessment of various aspects of toddlers’/children’s/adolescents’ language and monitoring the effects of various intervention programs or formal education on language development over the developmental periods prior to adulthood.
F.21 Development of new health/diagnostic methods/procedures
The research in 2011 is embedded in undergraduate educational and doctoral programs at three Slovene universities (Ljubljana, Maribor, Primorska) and international-wise, e.g. at the University of Vienna, Grand Valley (Allendale), Longwood, Gainesville College (USA), Akademgrodok and Perm (Russia). The findings are disseminated through lectures and seminars within a variety of courses across several educational programs at the university level, i.e. in psychology, neuropsychology, educational sciences, pedagogy, adult education, preschool education. The data collected by our research is also used to present the usefulness of multivariate statistical methods to our psychology students. The results of our studies there are included in our recent monographs, textbooks, chapters of monographs and papers published annually (see Cobiss). Those provide valuable academic material to the students in support to the lectures based on our latest findings.
